Spike the Hedgehog shares her food with Yoshi the rat terrier
Hedge·hog: Any of several small insectivorous mammals of the family Erinaceidae of Europe, Africa, and Asia, having the back covered with dense erectile spines and characteristically rolling into a ball for protection.
Spike seems to really like Yoshi's dogfood, preferring to her own hedgehog food that I buy at the pet store. In fact, she prefers cottage cheese even over dog food! Yoshi, my little rat terrier has found that she has someone that shares her food dishes. When Yoshi first appeared, Spike would only roll up into a spinely little ball, however, she now doesn't seem quite as scared of Yoshi as before. Yoshi finds total fascination with Spike.
Taking this photo deserves an award. Holding Spike, who is VERY spikey with one hand, while pointing the camera and taking the picture with the other ... guessing what you're doing ... at 2am in the morning ... was a feat! There is button close to Spike's head to provide an indication of this little hedgehog's size ... one of my smaller little guys that I've provided a rescue home for.
My bird perch invention accommodates Alpha the ring-neck dove and Poncho the sun conure...Poncho's 2-week vacation at our house was quite an adventure for an only-bird!
